The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment want to remind all pet owners to never leave your pet unattended in a hot motor vehicle.

On Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at approximately 1:20 p.m., police were contacted by a member of the motoring public concerned about the driving of another motorist. Officers patrolling the area subsequently located the vehicle in the Walmart parking lot at Queensway East in Simcoe.

The driver had exited the car and entered the store leaving a family dog in the vehicle. Upon returning, the person was spoken to by the officer and as a result, police charged

the 33-year-old driver of Norfolk County, Ontario with leave animal unattended in a motor vehicle, contrary to Norfolk County Care and Control of Animals By-Law 2014-46.

The driver was subsequently issued a Provincial Offence Notice.
