The old saying “no news is good news” may apply with today’s data release from Southwestern Public Health, which is monitoring Covid-19 cases in Oxford and Elgin counties, including the city of St. Thomas. There is no change in the number of active cases since yesterday. The grand total remains at 9 cases.

Oxford County continues to have 8 active cases of the coronavirus. Ingersoll has 4 cases and there are 2 cases each still in Tillsonburg and Woodstock.

Elgin County’s single active case continues to be the 1 in St. Thomas.

Meanwhile, Oxford County residents and businesses relying on municipal water and wastewater systems will soon see some relief measures. Usage is expected to rise with increased hand washing, cleaning and sanitizing. To help ease the financial burden, earlier this month, Oxford County Council approved the following relief measures: 1) effective June 1, water and wastewater rates will be rolled back to last year’s rates until the end of this year; 2) disconnections are suspended; and 3) deferred payment arrangements are available to those who demonstrate financial need.
