Despite numerous Facebook posts claiming police are pulling over vehicles with two or more passengers to conduct random screening, fining them if the occupants do not live in the same household, Police say this is not the case.

In an email Constable Ed Sanchuk with the Norfolk OPP had this to say, “The OPP is not conducting random COVID-19 screening; however fair to say we will continue to educate all Ontarians on the importance of self-isolation and limiting travels in efforts to limit the spread of COVID-19 during our daily interactions (responding to call/traffic enforcement, etc)”

OPP and local Health Units remind people to do their best to practice physical distancing and avoid leaving the home unless for essential trips.
