Almost two weeks ago (Mar. 27), Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital in Ingersoll, issued an appeal for specific items to help both hospitals augment their supplies to protect their health care workers during the Covid-19 crisis. In Tillsonburg, as of yesterday, donations have been made easier with a huge drop-box across the street from the hospital’s emergency entrance on Rolph St.

The list of items includes: nitrile gloves; hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol (preferably foam); disposable isolation gowns (Level 2); goggles (clear plastic with side shield); shield masks; N95 masks; and surgical and procedural masks.

According to a Mar. 27 press release, donations could be made in Tillsonburg through Loralee Heemskerk by email (loralee.heemskerk@tdmh.on.ca) or by calling 519-842-3611, ext. 5303 to arrange pick up or delivery of the supplies. In Ingersoll, contact Robin Schultz by email (robin.schultz@ahi.ca) or by calling 519-485-1700, ext. 8213.

The hospitals also noted that many businesses have closed and may have some of the items in store rooms. They are hoping those business will be able to reach and assist them.
