The province has announced a $1.6-million investment in palliative care in Elgin County.
Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Christine Elliott was joined by Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP and Minister of the Environment Jeff Yurek today to announce the funding for a new 8-bed residential hospice in S.t Thomas. Once open, the government will provide $840,000 annually in operational funding for the new Elgin Residential Hospice.
Yurek says the facility will be equipped to serve both rural and urban communities in the region.
The money comes in addition to the $33.6-million the government promised to build hospice beds across the province.
