The Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP says the Provincial government is taking measures to protect Ontario wild-life after Chronic Wasting Disease was found in a deer in Quebec.
Jeff Yurek says his Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is deploying additional surveillance teams near the Quebec border.  Chronic Wasting Disease is a contagious, fatal neurological disease that affects deer, moose, elk and caribou.
Additional testing teams and sample drop-off sites are also being opened.
No confirmed cases of Chronic Wasting Disease have ever been reported in wild animals in Ontario.
