LONDON, ON (September 20, 2018) – The London Police Service is seeking the public’s help in locating a man and woman wanted in relation to a number of auto thefts from used-car dealerships in the City of London.

Between August 13 and September 5, 2018, a couple allegedly attended several dealerships within the city under the guise that they were interested in purchasing a vehicle. The pair proceeded to test drive vehicles from the dealerships but failed to return them.

Several of the vehicles that were later located abandoned were found with stolen licence plates.

Matthew Lee Smibert, 36, and Sherri-Lynn Stringer, 38, both of no fixed address, are jointly charged by warrant with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle x 7;
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 x 6;
  • Possession of an identity document;
  • Theft under $5000; and
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Stringer is also charged with one additional count of theft of motor vehicle, while Smibert is additionally charged with two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking.
