The County of Brant is warning residents of scammers impersonating County staff, trying to gain access to homes.
An alert resident called the OPP after a person came to their home, identifying themselves as a County employee, selling water filtration systems. They presented the homeowner with a County Flushing Notice in an attempt to get into the house.
Police arrived and the scammers were removed.
The County says if staff need access to your home for any reason, an appointment will be made by phone well in advance. Staff will arrive in a marked County vehicle and provide a County of Brant ID badge.

If you think you have fallen victim to a scam or suspect a visit from a scammer, contact your local police, OPP or Crime Stoppers.
