We all know that Labour Day Weekend is the final chance to get in as much summer as possible!

Although we can’t slow down the arrival of fall, here’s how you can make the most of this Labour Day Weekend and send the kids back to school with a summer jam packed with memories:

  1. BBQ.  Every time you get a chance, fire up the grill.  You have the rest of the year to prep your meals in the kitchen, take advantage of the deliciousness the BBQ brings.
  2. Visit an outdoor city attraction.  London and area is home to loads of super fun outdoor summer attractions – Storybook Gardens, East Park, Kustermans and Clovermead! Bring lots of snacks, lots of water, and lots of sunscreen!  If you have little ones, don’t forget to pack your patience and go into the day knowing that it’s going to be exhaustively fun, and that you’re making memories and traditions that your children will never forget.
  3. Enjoy a day on the beach.  Nothing screams summer like the perfect day at the beach.  There’s no reason that you can’t enjoy the bliss of the beach in the last few days of summer, and even into September while the weather is still warm.
  4. Get outdoors and enjoy nature.  When was the last time you walked alongside a creek?  How about an afternoon spent laying on a picnic blanket on the grass reading?  Both your mind and body will benefit from the perks of being outdoors, and with so many great parks and conservation areas in and around the city, there’s no reason you shouldn’t enjoy everything nature has to offer.
  5. Treat yourself to summer’s favourite desert.  Enjoy a waffle cone filled with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, or a sugar cone heaping with Moose Tracks – whatever floats your boat, treat yourself to your favourite ice cream because you deserve it!
  6. Splash Around! No pool? No problem!  Spend a day in the backyard running through the sprinkler like you did when you were a kid, or break out the water guns and water balloons!  You’re never too old for a good old fashioned water fight!

Summer days with the kids at home may be coming to a close, but there is still plenty of time to get out and enjoy the warm weather, so be sure to make the most of it!
