U of G nabs Burlington high school sports star

The University of Guelph has nabbed an outstanding high school sports star from Burlington.

Justin Springer will play both varsity men's basketball and men's soccer in 2012-13 for the Gryphons.  He has enrolled in Guelph's history program.

A graduate of Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School, he is the younger brother of current soccer midfielder Brenden Springer.

Justin played centre-back and was his high school team captain from 2008 through 2012 and named the team's M-V-P in 2009 and 2010.

The 6-foot-3 guard also captained his high school men's basketball squad for 3 years and won a silver medal at this years O-F-S-A-A basketball championship.

In 2011 springer won a physical education proficiency award, an athletic achievement award and was named the senior male athlete of the year for his high school.
