It may have been foggy in Chicago, but that didn't stop Adam Dunn and Jose Bautista from seeing the ball. Dunn went 4 for 4 with two homers and five R-B-I's to give the Chicago White Sox a 10-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto's Bautista had two homers in a losing cause. The game was played from the second inning on in fog which became so thick that fly balls became an adventure. Umpires suspended play in the third inning for over an hour so the fog could lift.

Blackhawks v/s Bruins Wednesday night

Print PDF

It's the first Stanley Cup final involving a pair of Original Six teams since 1979 -- the Chicago Blackhawks vs. the Boston Bruins.

On Saturday night Patrick Kane finished his hat trick with a blistering goal with 8:20 left in the second overtime and the Blackhawks eliminated the defending Stanley Cup champion L.A. Kings 4-3 to win the Western Conference final in five games. Duncan Keith and Kane scored early to give Chicago a quick 2-0 lead. But the Kings fought back and tied it. Kane gave Chicago a 3-2 lead with 3:52 left in regulation. But Mike Richards scored on a deflection with just 9.4 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 3 and force overtime.

Next up are the Bruins, who swept the Pittsburgh Penguins to win the Eastern title.   Chicago will host the Boston Bruins in Game 1 on Wednesday night.

Chicago won the Cup in 2010, ending a 49-year drought.  Boston captured the title in 2011.

The Texas Rangers' big bats overpowered the Blue Jays to avoid a sweep in Toronto. Nelson Cruz, David Murphy and Adrian Beltre each homered as Texas scored six unanswered runs to beat the Jays 6-4. Jose Bautista could've tied the game up for Toronto in the ninth inning with two runners on base. But he struck out swinging and then was ejected for yelling at the home-plate umpire.

The Toronto Blue Jays won the longest game they ever played.  Rajai Davis' RBI single in the 18th inning lifted the Toronto Blue Jays to a 4-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Saturday in a 5 hour and 28 minute game that matched the longest in club history for both teams.
Emilio Bonifacio hit a one-out single in the 18th and took third with two outs on a wild pickoff throw by Ross Wolf (1-1).
Davis followed with a bouncing single down the third base line, sending the Blue Jays streaming out of their dugout in celebration and ending a game that started under sunny skies but finished with the stadium lights on.
Aaron Loup (3-3), the ninth Toronto pitcher, went one inning for the win.

A second Stanley Cup title in three years is four wins away from reality for the Boston Bruins. Adam McQuaid scored and Tuukka Rask made 26 saves as Boston shut out Pittsburgh 1-0. The victory swept the Penguins out of the Eastern Conference final. The Bruins last won the Cup in 2011

Intercounty Baseball League:

Brantford 3 Kitchener 2

The Brantford Red Sox opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the fifth, and fought off a late Kitchener comeback to down the Panthers 3-2 last night at Arnold Anderson Stadium in Brantford. Starter Brandon Huffman had a great outing and earned the win, allowing just four hits and one earned run with five walks and four strikeouts over 7 2/3 innings. Stefan Strecker earned the save, allowing one hit before registering the final out. Maybe even more impressive was the fact that Brantford managed to win the game while registering just one single hit in the game, a three run homer by Steve Lewis in the fifth inning, scoring Todd Betts and Tyler Patzalek. Starter Matt Robertson pitched a complete game eight innings and took the loss, giving up just one hit and three earned runs while walking four and striking out an impressive ten batters faced.

London 2 Toronto 0

Jordan Townshend pitched a complete game five-hitter as the London Majors blanked the struggling Toronto Maple Leafs 2-0 at Labatt Park, just hours after the Leafs re-acquired slugger Jon Waltenbury from the Barrie Baycats for infielder Jordan Castaldo and veteran pitcher Brett Lawson. Toronto (4-8) has now lost six straight games while London (8-4) took advantage of two Toronto errors to score the lone two runs of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning, handing the Leafs yet another tough loss.   Starter Marek Deska tossed six shutout innings, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. Reliever Adam Garner was charged with the two runs in the eighth on two hits with one strikeout and one walk to take the loss.
