Elective Surgeries Postponed in Huron/Perth

Officials with the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance are calling it an "almost unprecedented" situation.

Elective surgeries have been postponed at hospitals in Stratford, St. Mary's, Seaforth and Clinton because there just aren't any beds.

Officials say the area hospitals are at 117 percent occupancy and in Stratford, there are 11 people waiting for beds.

Officials say the emergency rooms are still open and patients should feel free to come in if they have an emergency and adds staff are focused on supporting patients

and making on-going adjustments to limit added pressure on the system.
