Three area police officers have been honoured with Ontario Medals for Police Bravery. The medals are awarded annually to honour police officers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to protect and serve their community. On New Year's Day, Brantford Police Const. Jeremy Morton and Brant OPP Constables Paul Drake and Christopher Thompson repeatedly entered a burning house to save an individual believed to be trapped in an upstairs bedroom. The occupant was safe at a neighbours' residence and all three officers were taken to hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.  Since 1975, 274 Ontario Medals for Police Bravery have been awarded.
