A Montreal firefighter has died after being hit by a fire truck.

It happened Friday afternoon when the pumper truck arrived at a blaze in the borough of St-Laurent.

The 38-year-old fireman had travelled to the fire aboard the truck and was hit by it as it manoeuvred into place.

The victim had been with the Montreal Fire Department for just over two years.

His name has not yet been released.
