Power grids and satellite communications could be temporarily disrupted Saturday when the earth is hit by a blast of solar radiation.

On Thursday, a huge solar flare sent a massive cloud of highly-charged particles toward earth.

This is the sixth -- and most powerful -- solar outburst so far this year.

The previous five caused no problems on earth.
