A new report concludes police violated civil rights, unlawfully detained people and used excessive force during the G-20 summit in Toronto two years ago.
The 300-page report by Ontario's police watchdog also blasts the temporary detention centre police set up for its poor planning, design and operation.
The 300-page report makes 42 recommendations.
One of them is to make it mandatory for police officers to disclose potential evidence of misconduct.
In all, the report slams Toronto police for poor planning and serious gaps in communications.
It also faults the incident commander for referring to the crowds at one point as “marauding terrorists.”
