Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be in Hamilton today to visit both Stelco Hamilton Works and ArcelorMittal Dofasco as part of a cross-country tour to show support for workers at those factories.

Canadian aluminum and steel exports to the U-S factories are under the threat of duties and Trudeau wants to show his government's support for workers in light of the potential threats to those industries.

U-S President Donald Trump recently decided to temporarily exempt Canada and Mexico from global steel and aluminium tariffs while Canada, the United States and Mexico negotiate a new NAFTA deal.

Asked what he would do if Trump changed his mind and slapped duties on Canada, Trudeau said, “we'll see when we get to that point.”

Trudeau will also visit Sault Ste. Marie and Regina.
