Conservation officials in the Essex County area are watching for possible flooding due to winds causing high waves on Lake Erie.

The Essex Regional Conservation Authority has issued a watershed conditions statement for portions of the Lake Erie shoreline up until tomorrow morning.

The areas most affected are the south and west shorelines of Pelee Island, the west shoreline of Pelee Island National Park, the Leamington shoreline west of the park and the shorelines of Essex, Kingsville and Amherstburg.

Environment Canada says winds could gust from 50 up to 70 kilometres an hour this morning before tapering off later this evening.
