Norfolk OPP report another resident has fallen victim to the "Romance and Dating Scam".

Police were called Monday by a person reporting a relationship over the internet with a male after meeting through a social media website.

E-mails were exchanged and then came the hook: several emergencies.

Between July and Nov. 9th of this year, several transactions took place, totaling $220,000.

Police say the frequency of this type of scam is increasing and can be hard to spot, so it's always a good idea to take steps to protect yourself like never sharing personal information online. This type of scam also targets particularly vulnerable people, mainly single woman.
