Middlesex OPP have not confirmed that weather was a factor in a collision that killed a London Hydro lineman over the weekend.

30 year old Jason Derks died Friday morning when his pickup truck rolled over in a ditch on Eight Mile Road, northwest of London, following the region’s first snowstorm of the season.

Derks worked for London Hydro and was part of a team that traveled to Long Island, N.Y. in 2012 to deal with the aftermath following

Hurricane Sandy and a year later to Toronto after an ice storm.

He leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
