A memorial for the dozens of workers who died building the Welland Canal was unveiled in St. Catharines on sunday.

Local MP Chris Bittle attended the opening on behalf of the Minister of Heritage.

The Welland Canal is a key part of the St. Lawrence Seaway, linking Lake Ontario with Lake Erie.

More than 100 workers lost their lives while building the canal in the early 1900s.
