Norfolk council has said no to online voting in the next municipal election.

At last week's meeting, the motion was voted down because some councillors want to take a “wait and see” approach to determine if the systems are secure.

The systems have been tried in a number of communities with no issue, including Delhi, but the fear persists that voter fraud or hacking could skew results.

Kandy Webb, general manager of employee and business services says in a staff report that internet voting is safe and secure.

Municipalities in Ontario have until May 1st to decide if on-line ballots will be used in October’s upcoming election.
