A St. Thomas resident was tricked by a fake Canada Revenue Agency notification and is now facing a fraud scam. Shortly after filing her tax return, the woman received a text message from someone indicating that they worked for the Canada Revenue Agency.

The message stated that there was a mistake in her return and she was receiving too much money back. The text directed her to a website that looked similar to the CRA website and she gave out personal information.

After this, she contacted her accountant who notified her that CRA does not send out text messages and to report this to police.
