The former tobacco growing regions in Oxford, Elgin, Norfolk, Brant and Middlesex are the recipients of federal funding for a long-term jobs strategy.Nearly 41-thousand dollars was announced in Brantford today by Brant MP Phil McColeman, that will help develop new markets and opportunities for agri-food businesses in the Sand Plains region.
McColeman says the Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie will undertake a study to identify emerging growth sectors in agri-business, tourism, renewable energy and food processing that could be used as a vehicle for economic growth. (jlw)
