Fire causes $100-K damage in Norwich twsp

The Township of Norwich Fire Service responded to a 911 report of a farm structure fire at 8:46 last evening (19 June 12) located at 365654 Evergreen Street in the Township of Norwich.

40 Firefighters reported to the scene with 8 pieces of fire apparatus from all four of the Township’s fire stations.  On arrival a quonset structure containing straw bales, hay and farm machinery was fully involved with fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire service, but is not considered to be suspicious in nature.

There were no injuries.  Firefighters remained on the scene for 9 hours to bring the blaze under control.  A preliminary estimate of damage is $100,000.  The building, feed and machinery is insured.

 

Firefighters were assisted at the scene by Oxford County OPP and Oxford County EMS.
