Norfolk County Mayor Dennis Travale recently presented the Entrepreneur of the Year Award to Burning Kiln Winery. The award was presented at the Norfolk County Economic Development Symposium held on January 26 in Courtland.
This award is presented to honour enterprising people whose businesses have made significant differences in Norfolk County. The award is a symbol of achievement and celebrates the accomplishments of business leaders who have established new ventures or lead existing ones into renewed growth.
“Seven individuals inspired by the land and its rich history, heritage and various cultural backgrounds, formed the partnership and established Burning Kiln Winery. These individuals (Frank DeLeebeeck, Mike McArthur, Scott Fixter, Dave Pond, Todd Saunders, Steve Malo and Gord Malo) combined their skills, talents and passions for people and place to create a destination full of wine and adventure. Burning Kiln Winery is an innovator in both the area and the wine industry. They have adopted a unique winemaking process that has produced the wine of choice for the Ontario’s Legislative Assembly’s Private Label Wine for 2011-12,” said Norfolk County Mayor Dennis Travale.
