Each week Country 107.3 and Husky Travel Centre are teaming up to recognize someone who has given back to the community. If you know of someone who deserves to be honoured as the ‘Husky Hero of the week’ with a $25 Gift certificate from the Husky Travel Centre, please click here to submit your story.

WEEK 1 HUSKY HERO - Natasha Caldwell

This week's Husky Hero is Natasha Caldwell of Kitchener. As a top student, 18 year old Natasha has organized a silent auction for a Kitchener family in need. The family had a medical situation that presented a financial fiasco. The Silent Auction raised $22,000 dollars! Kudos too you Natasha! Congratulations, you are the Husky Hero of the week!

Barry Neigel, Owner of The Husky Travel Centre on the 401 Presents Bob Facca, "Louie's Grandpa Walks to Defeat Duchennes" with the 2012 Husky Hero of the Year Award, plus $500 in Husky Travel Centre Gift Certificates.

Bob was named a Husky Hero as 'Louie's Grandpa walks to defeat Duchenne'.

Bob walked to raise money to help find a cure for Duchenne (Do-SHEN) muscular dystrophy. He walked 500 KM's from Owen Sound to London – May 7 to May 30. As Husky Hero of the Year - Bob has also decided to share his winning prize with his fellow 'Husky Hero of the Year' finalists Nancy Lester of Tillsonburg, Jean Tucker from Komoka, and Shari Mills of St.Thomas.

WEEK 42 HUSKY HERO - Mrs. Bonnie Robertson

This week's Husky Hero is Mrs. Bonnie Robertson from West Lorne. Bonnie is often described as "one in a million". Bonnie is known for her smile. She has spent time teaching people to read, helping them to understand their government mail, and has always taken the time to listen to the trial, tribulations and triumphs of others. She is constantly giving back to the community through volunteer work, and donating to charities. Bonnie is a constant promoter of West Lorne. At Christmas she can been see delivering Christmas boxes to the less fortunate. She sells tickets at her store for good causes.

WEEK 41 HUSKY HERO - Marcel Naarden

This week's Husky Hero is Marcel Naarden of London. Marcel is head coach of the London United Gryphons U11 Girls Soccer team, and has been coaching for roughly 20 years. Marcel has seen about a dozen of the players he has coached go on to earn collegiate scholarships. Most recently Marcel lead his U11 girls team in a fundraising event called Soccerfest, in support of the global charity RIGHT TO PLAY. The team raised over $1300 dollars in one day!
